Learning More About Kremmling History Can Make Your Visit Even More Enjoyable!

If you are planning a visit to Kremmling, Colorado, you can add to your enjoyment by learning more about the interesting history of Kremmling. Here's a sampling of what you can learn...

This beautiful town was named after Rudolph Kremmling, who was a businessman that opened a trading post in 1884 on the north side of Muddy Creek. Pioneers would frequently stop here for supplies when traveling, and many decided to remain in the area to live. By 1904, 140 people lived in the area and the town boasted all of 30 landowners!

Soon after, several railroads were built around the area, including...

  • Denver Railroad
  • Northwestern Railroad
  • Pacific Railroad

In celebration of the incoming railroads, the townspeople held a free fish fry and publicly read aloud the Declaration of Independence.

By 1912, the town was hosting its first fair. The fair, which was organized by W.H. Harrison, was called the Middle Park Fair.

Today, Kremmling, Colorado is still home to a number of fairs and many other exciting things to do and see. In addition, the western heritage on which the town was founded still remains a central component of this town!
